SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF SHOOTING OF POLICE OFFICER

Two years ago today, Corporal Timothy Hubbard of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department was shot and injured.  The defendant has not yet been apprehended.  Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan stated, “The shooting of a police officer is a major incident and completely unacceptable.  We will keep investigating, we will not rest, and we will not be satisfied until we capture this suspect and bring him to justice.”

On Sunday, January 17th 2010, at 11:25 PM, Corporal Hubbard was on patrol and came upon a suspicious vehicle parked at the intersection of East Strasburg Road and Ridley Creek Lane in East Goshen Township.  This vehicle, believed to be a dark colored 1990’s Honda Accord with a Delaware registration plate, was found parked and unattended at the intersection.  When Corporal Hubbard turned into the Ashbridge Preserve parking lot, he encountered a white male and white female who were engaged in a verbal dispute in the far corner of the stone parking area.  When Corporal Hubbard exited his marked police vehicle, the female immediately walked towards the parked car.  The male individual approached Corporal Hubbard, produced a small caliber handgun, and fired two shots.  Corporal Hubbard was shot in the hand by one bullet, but still was able to return fire.  As Corporal Hubbard retreated to his vehicle for cover, the male individual went to the Honda Accord, which was last seen driving eastbound on East Strasburg Road toward Willistown Township.

The white male suspect is described as being in his mid to late twenties, approximately 6’0”, husky build with short dark hair.  At the time of the shooting, the suspect had no facial hair and was wearing a grey hooded pullover sweatshirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap.  The female that was with the suspect was described as being in her early to mid twenties, with long brown hair, and wearing a light colored t-shirt.

Corporal Hubbard was transported to the Crozer Chester Medical Center where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand.  Corporal Hubbard has been unable to return to active duty with the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department due to his injury.

Over the past year Detectives from Westtown-East Goshen Police and Chester County Detectives have conducted more than 150 interviews.  Detectives have also received assistance from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Thanks to generous contributions of business owners, residents and local law enforcement associations, the Citizens Crime Commission is offering a reward of $30,000.00 dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual that shot Corporal Hubbard.   The Citizens Crime Commission can be reached at at 215-546-TIPS.  To be eligible for the reward, information must be called in to the Citizens Crime Commission Tipline, and the caller must obtain a code number from the operator.

Any person with any information regarding this unsolved shooting of a police officer is urged to call Detective-Sergeant William Cahill of WEGO PD at 610-701-9358 or Lieutenant Kevin Dykes of the Chester County Detectives at 610-344-6801.
